Item Class vs. Item Tags

Item Classes - Classes represent meaningful segments in your business. Use these to categorize your accounting transactions. Item classes also sync with Quickbooks Online for the purpose of categorizing accounting transactions.

Examples of this include: Accessories, Art, Furniture, Fabric, Flooring, Lighting, etc.

Item Tags - Tags are a flexible way to label and categorize objects according to your preferences. You can use tags to assign keywords or descriptors that help organize and search for specific items later. Feel free to add multiple tags, separating them with commas or spaces. Be creative and use tags that are meaningful to you or relevant to the object's characteristics, purpose, or context.

Examples of this include: Chandelier, Floral, Finish, Outdoors, Kitchen, Repair, etc.

Tax Settings for Time & Expense Entries

The way the Taxable setting hierarchy functions in the DesignerLink System is as follows: Account < Project < Description/Service Presets. Meaning if you have a Project set as all Time & Expense Entries are taxable by default, but a Description/Service Preset you use for a Time Entry is non-taxable, the Time Entry will be marked non-Taxable by default.
If you have Projects in multiple States or Tax Jurisdictions it is a best practice to be aware of what Projects need to have their Time & Expenses Entries taxable or non-taxable. Creating an additional set of Description/Service Presets for your Entries to accomodate the differing tax setting is encouraged. See example below:

Use Presets to save time entering Time Entry Services, Rooms, Unit Types, and more.

Pro Tip: When adding images to an item, use a pixel ratio of 400x400 or similar, for the best possible visual output on the PO and Proposal/Estimate.
