Create Project Billing Rates

Informing users how to create Project Billing Rates, so they can properly log time.

Updated over a year ago

In order to successfully track and enter time in DesignerLink 2.0, designers must create Project Billing Rates. Project Billing Rates are preset hourly rates used to log time for a specific project and specific employee. For Example: John Doe gets paid $150/hr for his Design Time on the Johnson's Home Project. Once you have your Project Billing Rates set up, adding Time Entries will take little to no time!

In these Best Practices, and Short Video, we are going to show you how to create Project Billing Rates in Designer Link 2.0. The bottom of this page also includes Related Articles and Frequently Asked Questions.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  1. How can I add a new employee?

    1. We need to make sure you are asking whether you want to add a new user or if you are just trying to add an employee name to create a time entry. To do this, you would be making a Project Billing Rate with that employee's name to achieve your solution.

  2. I have too many project billing rates to choose from, and some employees no longer work at our firm, can we remove them?

    1. While you cannot delete project billing rates, you can archive them. To do so, select the rate(s) you would like to remove, click Actions -> Archive. And then those rates will no longer appear in the dropdowns.

  3. I don't want to show the employee on my billing rates, I want them to just be invoiced by the Job, is that possible?

    1. Yes, to do this we would suggest that you instead of using a first and last name as the employee, you would but "Design" for the first "Fees" for the last, and then if necessary at the bottom you can put a name for job role. But this will achieve what you are looking for.
