Best Practices for Time Entries

This guide will show you the ins and outs of entering your Time into DesignerLink.

Updated over a year ago

Use the Time Entry feature in DesignerLink 2.0 to record the time spent on various tasks and activities related to a Project. It involves keeping track of the hours spent by designers, project managers, and other team members on different aspects of the project, such as client meetings, research, conceptualization, design development, procurement, coordination, and installation.

This new feature can be found in the same place you can enter an Expense using the Add Entry button.

Here's a step-by-step guide on how to add and review Time Entries:

  1. Record Time Entries as you go, in order to ensure able billable time for the Project is accounted for:

  2. Bill the Client: Create an invoice for the Project to bill Time Entries.

Use the "Standard with Reimbursables" Invoice template to view both Reimbursables and Time Entries on the same Invoice.

  3. Use the billed vs unbilled toggle to view which Time Entries have not been invoiced yet.

  4. Go to the "Time & Expense Report" tab to run reports for both expenses and time entries or just Time Entries.
